How do I start to put together a list of words to describe my assets?
- Look through your untagged assets and create a list of words that directly relate to what you are seeing or reading
- Try to think of what your image or asset is about, stay away from jargon words and acronyms
Examples:
Jargon words: ACID RAIN, DUE DILIGENCE, TEAM PLAYER, SPIN
Acronyms:
FTP (File Transfer Protocol/Financial Transactions Plan/Functional Threshold Power)
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician/Email Money Transfer)
ATM (Automatic Teller Machine/Asynchronous Transfer Mode) - In your list use words that you know exactly what they mean
Examples:
Planes – is this an airplane, a mathematical space or a woodworking tool
Coats – is this an article of clothing, the fur of an animal or a layer of paint or another substance
Arms – a limb of the human body, a narrow part of a larger body of water or firearms - Keep in mind your user is not someone who knows your collection, but someone who walks in off the street never having seen your collection, but knows what they want.
