We’d like to think that archiving video is exactly like archiving photographs. A title, some keywords, basic rights information youtube-play-buttonand you are DONE!

Video, because it is not a static image, needs more than just keywords to get across what it contains. A shot list or markers for points of interest, places or people are needed to make this asset truly valuable as part of your collection.

A well written yet short description or synopsis will also provide valuable metadata for your search engine to find it and your users to decide if it is what they are looking for.

Don’t forget to include information about the production staff, editor, videographer, actors and the like can be metadata that users search for, particularly if they want to see examples before they work with these people again on another project. It is also great for keeping track of rights information.
