What’s involved in preparing assets for a migration?
Migrations can be challenging because there isn’t a one-size-fits-all strategy. Different asset collections will have different needs and contingencies. At Archimedia, we have a long history with moving assets around and have learned through experience what goes into a successful migration.

Determining what you have and how much you have of it.

Evaluating the current state of assets and metadata and identifying potential areas of improvement or issues.

Compiling assets targeted for migration and setting aside others in an organized way for a later action.

Culling not just identical assets, but those 5 different sizes of the same image.
Metadata Preparation
Often a significant phase in a migration; activities could include extracting, transforming, mapping, developing crosswalks, combining with or creating new metadata.
Ingestion and Validation
Uploading your finalized assets and metadata into your DAM and making sure everything lands in the right place.
